# Link Your Artist Profile on Diskograf

> Link your Diskograf account to an existing artist profile or create a new artist identity during onboarding or from profile settings.

If you are an artist, you can link your Diskograf account to the artist identity that represents you. Linking an artist profile connects your public account to that artist's works and lets you claim your own credits on existing songs.

## Who can link an artist profile

Only link an artist profile that represents you. Do not claim another artist, a namesake, or an artist you manage without the artist's own authorization. If the profile is already linked to another account, do not try to work around that link.

## Link your profile

<Steps>
  <Step title="Sign in and open your profile settings">
    Sign in with Google, then open **Edit profile** from your public profile. New accounts are sent through onboarding before they can use the rest of the site.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose Artist">
    In the artist section, choose **Artist**. Your account must have an artist identity before you can claim credits on songs.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Search for your artist profile">
    Search by your stage name or artist name. Select the existing profile that represents you. Check the name, aliases, group or solo type, and discography before you continue.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm the identity acknowledgement">
    Confirm that the profile belongs to you, then save your profile. Diskograf links the available artist profile to your account after the confirmation.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  If your artist is not listed, use the option to create a new artist identity. Search first to avoid creating a duplicate profile.
</Note>

## After you link

Your public profile can show the linked artist's works, credits, genres, aliases, biography, collaborators, and social links. You can update your own profile details from [profile settings](/account/profile).

To add yourself to a song that already exists, open the song and choose **Claim credit**. Select the roles you performed and confirm the information.

Linking an artist profile is not a staff verification process. Diskograf does not currently issue a separate verification badge or send a claim through a review queue.

## If you selected the wrong artist

Stop before saving if the search results do not clearly represent you. If you have already linked the wrong profile, open profile settings and correct the artist link before claiming any credits.

For suspected impersonation or a profile that is already linked to someone else, use [Contact](/support/contact) and include the affected profile URL and the reason for your report.
