# Artist identity rules on Diskograf

> Understand what linking an artist profile means on Diskograf and what the platform does not currently verify.

Diskograf uses artist-profile linking to connect a member account with a public artist identity. It is an account relationship, not a separate verification program.

## What linking means

When you confirm an artist identity in onboarding or profile settings:

* Your account is linked to that artist profile.
* Your public profile can show the artist's works and credits.
* You can use **Claim credit** to add your artist identity and roles to existing songs.
* You can update the profile details that belong to your linked artist identity.

The link does not mean that Diskograf has independently verified your identity. Diskograf does not currently provide a verification badge, a claim review queue, a claim status page, or an approval notification.

## Use the identity acknowledgement carefully

Only confirm an artist identity that represents you. Before saving, check the artist name, aliases, group or solo type, and the linked discography. If the search results are ambiguous, stop and investigate before choosing a profile.

If the artist does not exist, search again using alternate spellings before creating a new identity. Duplicate artist profiles make credits harder to understand.

## Keep your profile accurate

After linking, open [profile settings](/account/profile) to update your own artist details. Depending on the profile, these may include:

* Stage name and aliases
* Group or solo type
* Biography and primary job
* Location, birthplace, and birth date
* Collaborators
* Profile image and social links

To correct information on a published song, use **Suggest an edit** on the song page. To add your own role to an existing song, use **Claim credit**.

## Report an identity problem

Do not claim an artist profile that belongs to someone else. If you believe an account is impersonating an artist or the wrong account is linked to a profile, report the affected profile through [Contact](/support/contact).

See [Claiming a Profile](/identity/claiming-profile) for the linking steps and [Reporting Artist Impersonation](/identity/impersonation) for reporting guidance.
